Ages 1-8 are mirror-neuron dominant years. Since that’s true, let’s talk about why modeling mindful behavior, setting wise limits, and focusing on natural consequences primes your child’s brain for more mindful accountability in the years to come. We’ll also discuss why the opposite is also true – using discipline that puts accountability on our child’s shoulders too early (aka most rewards and punishments) often stunts mindful accountability later.
